Did you know?
To maintain a Class A surface on a part, you should avoid placing ribs, bosses or other protrusions behind the cosmetic wall (see figure 1).
Protrusions such as those mentioned are masses of material and when tied to the outside wall, may cause sink marks on the appearance surface. If these are required, follow the design tips pertinent to such features. Also, very subtle changes in the wall section may read through on a high gloss surface.

Did you know?
Texturing can be included on a cosmetic surface to help hide surface defects such as knit lines, splay, blemishes or scratches from end use.
The depth of texture is somewhat limited and extra draft would be required to allow for mold withdrawal without marring the surface. |
