Design Tips » Nomial Wall

Nominal Wall: thickness of the main wall of a plastic part.

To ensure proper molding, the wall thickness should be the same throughout
the part. This includes main wall and all side walls.

Why? Drastic changes in nominal wall will leave stresses in the part, may
inhibit filling and promote warpage.

Nominal wall is affected by material choice:

1. Unfilled materials – 0.030” to 0.130”
2. Filled materials – 0.060” to 0.250”
