In addition to the general characteristic of semi-crystalline plastics performing better than amorphous plastics in environments of abrasion, a slurry test was carried out on several samples from each category.
Carbon steel was used as the standard and the weight loss was expressed in percent (see Table 1 ).
Test Condition:
Test samples 1” x 3” x 0.125” thick were attached to the end of a steel shaft. The shaft was rotated at 3450 RPM for 3 hours in a 50/50 (by weight) slurry of sand and water.
