Did you know?
Processing and property characteristics of plastics can be altered greatly by incorporating different types of fillers, reinforcements and additives.
In general, particulate fillers like talc or ground calcium carbonate usually increase modulus and plasticizers usually decrease modulus and enhance flexibility. Mechanical properties are most significantly increased by adding reinforcing fibers made of glass, metal, carbon or other materials. Specialized additives such as flame retardants, thermal and UV stabilizers and oxidation inhibitors are available to add a unique property to a particular plastic.
Let Columbia Plastics Ltd. make recommendations on the type of fillers, reinforcements or additives that would be relevant to your part design. |
